Welcome, I'm Yoshiko.

(she/her)

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and a Professional Art Therapist with the Canadian Art Therapy Association. I am an experienced therapist specializing in grief and loss, with years of practice in providing compassionate, client-centered care. I have also completed end-of-life doula training, offering compassionate support through life’s most challenging times.

Practice Philosophy

The name “Kintsugi” (金継ぎ) comes from a beautiful Japanese art form that repairs broken pottery by mending the cracks with gold or silver. Instead of hiding imperfections, Kintsugi embraces them, creating something even more beautiful and resilient than before. This philosophy mirrors my approach to grief therapy.

Just as Kintsugi transforms broken pottery into something stronger and more meaningful, grief can be a process of healing and deepening resilience. Each painful experience becomes part of your story, adding strength and depth. In my practice, we work together to mend the fractures of loss, honoring your journey and uncovering the beauty in healing.

At Kintsugi Grief Counselling, I believe that every challenge you face—whether it’s grief from the loss of a loved one, a pet, pregnancy loss, or traumatic events—adds to your strength, resilience, and uniqueness. Just like the art of Kintsugi, these experiences don’t diminish your worth; they enhance your beauty. I offer counselling therapy to individuals aged 19 and up, helping each person find their unique path to healing through grief and loss.

I respectfully acknowledge that Kintsugi Grief Counselling operates on the traditional lands of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, including the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, and the W̱SÁNEĆ people. I honor their enduring relationship with this land and strive to create a healing space rooted in respect, connection, and care.

I am passionate about supporting those navigating grief, whether from human or pet loss. My approach integrates empathy, creativity, and humour to meet you where you are. Therapy is a collaborative process where we explore your strengths and work toward healing and growth.

I deeply value the role of witnessing in therapy—holding space for your story, ensuring you feel fully seen and heard as you process grief and find resilience. Alongside traditional talk therapy, I incorporate art therapy, providing a holistic approach for deeper emotional expression.

Clients often share that they feel truly heard and supported, with a safe, non-judgmental space to explore their thoughts and feelings. I am here to walk alongside you, guiding you toward healing and meaningful change.

“Therapy is a collaborative process where we explore your strengths and work toward healing and growth.”
